Gregg Hoffman is co-founder of URBAN PUMP, LLC. He is in his 19th year as a personal trainer. During that time, he has owned and operated 2 personal training studios (Bodies by Hoffman Inc.), been voted one of the top 100 personal trainers in America by Men's Journal magazine in the December 2004 edition, and taught trainers how to be the best at their game. Throughout his career, he has refined his training approach to help clients gain the most benefit in the least amount of time. He calls it the HYSTRENGTH (sm) training program. To learn more about the program, check out the Philosophy and Q and A page. Gregg has also learned through many conversations with physical therapists and continuing education courses how to work with and improve post-rehab issues such as: herniated disks, acl reconstruction, patello-femoral syndrome and shoulder impingement. This is only a sampling of what he can work with. What motivates Gregg to be a fitness expert is the need for quality information and guidance in health and fitness. We are all aware of the rising obesity and sedentary lives of not only grown ups, but children as well. Gregg feels that with better knowledge, motivation, and guidance we can see a turn around in these trends. Gregg was active in sports and other activities as a kid, but by age 17 he wanted to be a bodybuilder and compete in physique contests. He started weight training, following the advice of his fellow gym rats and articles written in Muscle and Fitness magazines. After a few years of training, he did not see much progress. At first, he just assumed he needed more time to start seeing changes, but he also stumbled on a bodybuilding book in the local health food store that provided training principles that went contrary to what he was taught. He bought the book, applied the principles, and started making progress toward his goals. This is where his motivation for personal training came in. He just started telling all his friends and anybody interested in fitness how to do it, and it evolved to where he is today. During his career, he has studied many approaches to fitness and also learned post rehab protocols. Over time he has put together into a coherent, result producing system the techniques he calls the Hystrength (sm) training program. Gregg no longer has an interest in bodybuilding (does not have the genetics and is not willing to take steroids), but he has put on over 40 lbs of muscle and lost considerable amount of fat during this time. Most importantly, he is fit and healthy. Really the main reasons to exercise. Gregg was born and raised in Colorado, and he enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 kids, and loves what he does for a living.
